Have you ever heard the saying, “You are what you think about most of the time”? What if I told you that what you think about right before you fall asleep could hold the key to achieving your biggest goals and dreams? It might sound too simple to be true, but the science behind it and countless success stories suggest otherwise. Let’s break it down in simple terms.

Why Your Thoughts Before Sleep Matter

Your mind is incredibly powerful. When you’re about to fall asleep, your brain enters a state called the hypnagogic state. This is a unique transition between being awake and asleep when your subconscious mind becomes highly receptive. Unlike your conscious mind—the part of you that makes logical decisions and filters information—your subconscious mind works in the background, shaping your habits, beliefs, and even the opportunities you notice during the day.

It’s the part of you that keeps your heart beating, keeps your lungs breathing and heals a cut on your finger without you thinking about it.

Think of your subconscious mind as a garden. The thoughts you feed it before you sleep are the seeds. If you plant seeds of negativity, worry, or doubt, you’ll wake up with those same feelings shaping your day. But if you plant seeds of positivity, gratitude, and focus on your goals, you’re giving your subconscious a head start to help you achieve what you want.

What To Avoid Thinking About

It’s just as important to avoid negative or stressful thoughts before bed. If you fall asleep worrying about debt, arguments, or failures, your subconscious will fixate on these, creating more stress and attracting similar situations. Instead, make a conscious effort to replace those thoughts with gratitude or excitement for what you’re working toward.

Start Tonight

The best part about this technique is how easy it is to start. You don’t need any special tools or a lot of time. Simply lie down, focus on what you want, and let your mind do the rest. Over time, you’ll start to notice subtle changes in your attitude, behavior, and the opportunities around you—all leading you closer to your goals.

If it’s hard for you to picture your goal, imagine someone you respect congratulating you on accomplishing that goal.  Imagine what they say and that you would say “thank you” back.  It’s a 5 second scene that you loop over and over when you are in that drowsy state right before you go to sleep for about 5 minutes.  The most important 5 minutes of your day which can bring your everything you want if you are consistent.  You don’t even need to believe in this technique for it to work.

For example, you could imagine someone saying to you, “(your name), huge congratulations on getting 2 sales a day in your business. That’s amazing! I always knew you could do it!”  Then imagine yourself saying back to them “thank you!”  And then feel how it would feel if it were really true right now.

This video explains it so well and this technique definitely works.  (read the comments below this video on youtube) Why not turn things over to your subconscious to do the work for you and use this simple technique to get whatever you want in life?
