Jonathan Budd’s Answer-What Trips Most People Up

by karen on June 22, 2010

I was on a webinar tonight with the amazing Jonathan Budd and he was giving out lots of value as usual. At the end, he was taking a few questions and one brilliant person (can’t remember your name, but thank you, by the way) asked him what he thought was the biggest obstacle most people have to overcome. He answered he thought it was complacency.

What he meant by that is people who start a business do it because they think their life is hard, working a job. They start a business because they think it will make their life easier. Well, they eventually figure out it is hard work to make a business successful, harder work than it takes to go to a job. So complacency sets in. They start to think maybe their job isn’t so bad after all and they go back to doing the same thing.

Of course what will keep someone going is a burning desire and a huge why as to what would make them put so much effort into something that may take a while to see results. Persistence combined with a strong reason why will overcome complacency.

This is one of my favorite videos I have found that speaks to the subject of persistence and I wanted to share it with you. I like the visual of where you are on the left hand side of the curve when you are in your learning mode.

It’s really inspiring to know that yes, you are on the uphill, but when you hit the downhill, it becomes easy to make money. Like Jonathan Budd said, eventually with all your hard work, you can send out one email and make more money than someone working their butt off at a job for an entire month! So, it’s worth it :)
