You is kind, you is smart, you is important…..I saw a great movie last weekend with my family, “The Help,” and this is my favorite line.

Those of you who know me well know that I love the area of personal development.  This is a great movie that has many messages.

Here is a synopsis of “The Help”:

Set in Mississippi during the 1960s, Skeeter (Stone) is a southern society girl who returns from college determined to become a writer, but turns her friends’ lives — and a Mississippi town — upside down when she decides to interview the black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent southern families. Aibileen (Davis), Skeeter’s best friend’s housekeeper, is the first to open up — to the dismay of her friends in the tight-knit black community. Despite Skeeter’s life-long friendships hanging in the balance, she and Aibileen continue their collaboration and soon more women come forward to tell their stories — and as it turns out, they have a lot to say. Along the way, unlikely friendships are forged and a new sisterhood emerges, but not before everyone in town has a thing or two to say themselves when they become unwittingly — and unwillingly — caught up in the changing times.

It is rare for me to find a movie that I can watch with my two teenage girls and not

cringe during it because of language, violence, or behavior.  But this movie was one

we could watch and all enjoyed.

Why am I telling you about it, other than I think it’s a great movie worth watching?

Because of one message some people may not have given much thought to.  It’s a message Aibileen gave the young 2 year old girl she was raising.  Several times

throughout the movie you saw Aibileen take the darling girl’s face between her hands,

bring her face close to hers, and say, “You is kind, you is smart, you is IMPORTANT.”

Her mother was not someone who was boosting this child’s self confidence from this

tender young age, so it was great to see the maid, Aibileen, was doing it.

My message to you is what messages, either implied or expressed, are you giving to

your children (or yourself) that will influence how they feel about themselves?  I immediately

thought, wow, I wished I had watched this when my children were young and I would

do the same thing every day, taking my daughters faces in my hands, each one at a time

and say, “You are kind, you are smart, you are IMPORTANT!”  How many people do you

know that struggle with self-esteem?  Imagine if we are parents gave them this message

every day of their young life?  Wow, we would have some great confident children, don’t you

think?  That’s not to say we don’t do a great job as parents, but I think a message like

this should be one passed along to each generation.  Better yet,

do this with your children and also with yourself, in the mirror.

In the experience of people who have used it myself included

( I do it every night), “The Mirror Exercise” is probably

the most powerful self-acceptance and self healing exercise

that you can ever do – and the simplest.

Have you ever wondered why some people have everything and are still not happy? Or you arrive at your goal and think “This is it?” and still have an empty feeling inside, that achieving the goal was supposed to fill?

In my many years of studying personal development, I have found two processes, The Release Technique and The Sedona Method, which have allowed me to have peace and happiness, no matter what is happening around me.

That’s what we’re all searching for, right? Peace and happiness?

Although it is wonderful to have the things you want in life, such as material possessions, these “things” are not what bring us happiness. Happiness and peace are our true state of being, but this gets covered up by feelings. When we learn to let go of feelings with The Release Technique rather than repress, cover up, or scream our head off, we uncover the happiness and peace that is already there.

This peace and happiness is NOT dependent on outside circumstances. I can tell you from personal experience, things may not be just the way I would like them to be, but by giving up my feelings of lack, negativity, or powerlessness, I can feel very much at ease and confident about the situation. When you feel ease, you are in a position to attract what it is that you do want and then things can often turn out better than you expected. Compare this to getting upset and being distraught about something for days and in the process making everyone around you miserable.

Here is an example of part of The Release Technique for you to try.

Have an open mind and just experience it for yourself. Think of something you will like to feel better about or let go. It can be something from the past or something you are currently experiencing that you want to feel better about.

Releasing Questions

What you will notice is the more you go through these questions is that you will feel more at ease about the situation. In my experience, when I go through these questions, even on very emotionally charged issues is that I start to feel a calmness come over me and it’s like the event gets further and further away from me and eventually I am neutral about the situation. I know it happened, but I no longer have a strong negative emotion toward it. Some things that really did bother me or hurt me may take longer than one sitting to resolve.

For example, if something happened to me that I would like to forget and it keeps popping into my mind later than day or the next day, even after I have worked on releasing it, I simply know that I haven’t totally let it go. Then I will go through the questions every time the event pops into my mind and eventually I am able to totally let it go forever. Yes, that is possible! Imagine how healthy that would be and how empowering, to know you have control over your life and your emotions, not events or people!

I wanted to share a great process with you to use if you are having a bad day or are wanting to feel happy, Rampage Of Appreciation. I learned about rampage of appreciation in the book “Ask And It Is Given” by Esther and Jerry Hicks.

You simply look around yourself and look for things that are pleasing. You hold your attention here and then look for something else to appreciate. As you move through your day and make it your dominant intent to look for things to appreciate, you put yourself in a position to attract more to appreciate. Because by the Law of Attraction, through your FEELING of appreciation, you will attract more things that will give you a feeling of appreciation.

The more you find to appreciate on your rampage of appreciation, the better you will feel. When you raise your vibrational frequency to that of appreciation, you have no resistance and when you have no resistance, you can attract to you the things you want in life.

This is a great thing to do as you are driving, thinking about all the things you appreciate. Your day will begin on a great note and you can continue this throughout the day. Learning to live in the moment and appreciate is a great way to live. Have fun with this process, the Rampage Of Appreciation!

I have a fun game for you to play, Wouldn’t It Be Nice If….. (you fill in the blank). This process for improving your ability to attract what you want in your life comes from “Ask And It Is Given” by Esther and Jerry Hicks.

Often times when we think of what we want, it is in response to a lack of something. Then you include in your thoughts the lack of whatever it is that you want, which creates resistance and keeps what you want from coming to you.

So with the “Wouldn’t it be nice if” game, you just think of what you want like:

Wouldn’t it be nice if in the next year I could work from home?

Wouldn’t it be nice if my health was perfect?

Wouldn’t it be nice if I was making millions of dollars every year?

Wouldn’t it be nice if I could take 3 wonderful vacations a year?

When you start to think of what you want, your mind continues to imagine new and great things to attract into your experience. Try it, you’d like it

This is a great game to play while you are driving to work; you can place an index card on your dashboard with the words “Wouldn’t it be nice if…” so you remember to play it often.

It will keep you feeling good and when you are feeling good, you can attract all the good things you want into your life.

Don’t expect instant results, but have fun with it and trust that everything will come into alignment for you to have whatever you want.

The Prosperity Game

The prosperity game is a process I learned from an amazing book, “Ask And It Is Given” by Esther and Jerry Hicks.

The game will be of most use to you when you want to improve the flow of money into your life. Imagination is very important in creating what you want in your life. Think about it, how often do you imagine spending a large amount of money each day and not feeling the least bit of resistance toward doing so? When you stretch your mind to think of what you would spend a lot of money on daily, it’s amazing what results you will see.

So what is the prosperity game?

You are going to keep an imaginary checking account. Go ahead and order yourself some checks for this purpose, use an old checking account you no longer use, or an accounting program in your computer. I prefer writing out checks.

On the first day, deposit $1,000 and write this deposit in your check register. Then write a check and spend it. You can write it all for one thing, or write several checks for different things. You can spend it all in one day or same some for the next day. The important point is to have fun with it and enjoy writing out the checks. Make sure you write a description in the memo of what you are buying.

To continue with the prosperity game, the next day, you deposit $2,ooo and spend it.

The third day, you deposit $3,000 and spend it. You will continue to add $1,000 each day so that on day 50, you will deposit $50,000 and on the last day of the year, you will deposit $365,000. In total, if you make it a habit to play the prosperity game every day, you will have spent $66 million in a year. You can start and stop the prosperity game any time you want, but wouldn’t it be fun to do it every day for an entire year?

So what does a process like the prosperity game do for you? Well, since your subconscious mind does not know the difference between something real and something imagined, you will shift your point of attraction from that of what you currently have to one of an improved financial situation. By feeling no resistance when you are writing the checks because you don’t fear overspending, you will allow more money into your experience. You will shift from focusing on “what is” to what you are wanting and what you will spend your money on when the money manifests in physical form.

The prosperity game is a very fun game, but an extremely powerful process to improve the amount of money flowing into your life.
